Another homofascist victory

Adelaide's City of Marion local area council voted 6-5 to permanently fly the homosexual movement’s rainbow flag.

Another example of "Just when you thought that it can't get any worse, it does".

O.K., I'll freely admit that I believe that homosexualism is a mental disorder, just as schizophrenia, cleptomania or claustrophobia are. They can all be treated, and in many cases cured. As a teen aged victim of three seperate homosexual assaults over a period of two years, which had devestating negative effects on my life,  I have strong feelings about this subject. But that is a whole other subject.

The frightening aspect of this headline is that a city council is venturing into the field of social engineering. Orwell and others warned us that this would happen.

In the first place, this is probably a violation of its City Charter, or constitution. In the second place, it was a 6 - 5 vote, which any reasonable person would admit is no moral mandate. The third point is a question. Would the same six homosexual friendly members of City Council agree to permanently fly a pro life flag, or the banner of any Christian, Jewish or Muslim group, or the banner of a group which offers to help homosexuals overcome their problem? I think that we all know the answer to that question.

The only flags that should be flown by governmental  decree are the national, state or municipal flags, or as a courtesy the flag of the country of an official visitor. No sectarian flags of any kind should be flown by the goverment. It is not the place of the city council to promote a religion, or the flat earth movement, or the daily consumption of potatoes, much less that of an unfortunate metally disordered segment of society which should be given loving help. Yes, in spite of the fact that I suffered greatly at the hands of several homosexual males, I believe that we should respect their humanity and help them with loving guidance. But that does not mean that we should pretend that homosexual activity is normal or desirable.

Father's Day

Today is Father's Day. I'm old enough to remember when there was no such designated day. I was already 42 years old when Father's Day was officially recognized in the U.S..

I'm not sure just what the point of all of these "Days" is. Mother's Day I can understand, in a way. Special recognition of Mother goes back, nearly 2000 years in the Christian community, through the special honour and reverence that has been paid to Mary, Mother of Jesus. Special reverence for mothers and mother figures predate that, probably by thousands of years. And why should that surprise anyone. After all, even the dullest person can appreciate the fact that his/her very existence came about because he/she was born of a woman. The Mother. As such, every day should be Mother's Day. I think that if every day isn't Mother's Day then no day is Mother's Day.

So I believe that it is fit and proper that we should honour and revere our mother.

But as for all of those other "Days" or "Weeks" or "Months" or "Years", I think that we could well do without them. They are more about selling some thing or collecting money for some cause than they are about anything really important. That's not to say that fathers, secretaries, victims of crime or multiple sclerosis aren't important. It's rather that I don't approve of using emotional blackmail to extract gelt from the guileless.

So let's remember mother and father every day and give them the honour and respect that they deserve. I know that there are fathers and mothers who are more deserving of contempt that of respect or love. That doesn't matter. The fact is that they gave us our life. For that we owe them at least our gratitude.

Corruption. Government and/or corporate. Banksters and politicians

Government and corporate corruption. Before I moved to Mexico I had heard all of the tales about official corruption here. That didn't worry me very much because I don't really have anything to tempt a thief, whether official or amatuer. I've now been here about 30 months and have not yet encountered any of the alleged corruption. I'm sure that it exists, but in socio/economic levels much above the ones I frequent.

I have a good friend, a retired businessman, who came here from the U.S. about 20 years ago and has had extensive dealings with government bureaucracies, as well as private business people. He tells me that corruption is no worse here than it is in the U.S.. It is just less expensive here.

Father's Day is creeping nearer. I already have received my first Father's Day card. A real commecially made store bought card which came by mail from a good friend in Taiwan. (Thank you Dan and family).  I wonder how many fathers will get an actual physical Father's Day card. A quick quiz. When did Father's Day officially start in the U.S.. I'll bet that no one remembers that it was Richard Nixon who declared a nation wide annual Father's Day in 1972.

Fathers. Father' Day, Dead Beat Dads, Child Support

In 5 more days various parts of the world will (in theory) celebrate Fathers' Day. I wonder why. Today about 40% of children are growing up in homes without a father. I have no idea what sort of fathers the other 60% have. I think that it's important for children to have both a father and a mother in the same home. It is 'specially important for a boy to have a full time father. Don't take my word for it. Look up the stats for yourself. Anywhere from 60% to 90% of boys from fatherless homes grow up to be social misfits of one kind or another.

Tat's not to be taken as a negative comment about the mother. I presume that all/most mothers do their best when it comes to raising their children. The fact is that their best simply isn't good enough.

On the other hand, one might ask if a boy isn't better off without a father than to be stuck with the kind of a dad who would just up and walk away from his children. Of course, some mothers a not paragons of virtue either. And then there are the homes where both mother and father are functionally absent. Sometimes it's not altogether the fault of the parents that they can't be fully functioning parents. There are cases where loving parents have to work two jobs each just to keep a roof over the family's head and some food on the table. Many of these working poor depend on grandparents to raise the children.

God knows, there are plenty of dead beat dads, but many of them have been created by modern western society. When a child grows up without proper parenting (by mom and dad, not grandparents) how can they possibly learn to be good parents themselves. They certainly won't learn from TV where most fathers are portrayed as morons without balls whose role is to knuckle down to some radical feminist. And above all they won't learn how to be good parents while growing up in a house with two "mommies" or two "daddies".
