Barring some unforseen disaster, The next President of the United States will be Senator John Kerry.
I am not an American, so I wont be voting, but I am a political junkie and I like to follow what's happening in a lot of countries. I watched Kerry's speech last night, and after carefully thinking about it for a full day I am convinced that Kerry now has the White House in his pocket.
Frankly, I don't care much for either Bush or Kerry and I'm glad that I don't have to chose which one to vote for. Unfortunately for Bush, he has to run on his record, which may be one of the worst for any president ever. Not only has he plunged the U.S. into a series of unjustified wars, he has also plunged the country into a huge and growing debt. The grandchildren of children yet unborn will have to struggle to pay of the Bush economic legacy to the American people.
I'm not so naive as to believe that Kerry can deliver on many of his promises, but at least he offers a chance of something better. Three years ago nearly the whole world was a friend of the United States. I have found it really saddening to watch Pres Bush squander all that good will. Today, nearly the whole world fears and distrusts the United States. I believe that John Kerry can turn that situation around and make the U.S. once more respected, admired and trusted.
