A few days before Christmas someone abandoned a tiny kitten at the end of my driveway. This happens all too often when you live in the country. Over the years we have acquired any number of dogs and cats this way.
I won't bother to express my opinion of the people who will abandon puppies and kittens by just tossing them out of their vehicle and driving off. There are SPCA and other animal shelters all across Canada that will take in these unwanted animals.
Fortunately, in this case, the kitten found its way up our long driveway and took shelter under a porch, where I found her on a bitterly cold morning. She is now part of our household, and is giving us no end of pleasure.
