A couple of months ago I wrote that barring some unforeseen disaster, Senator kerry would be the next President.
I never thought that the "unforeseen disaster" would be kerry throwing the election. I have seen old ladies running for the presidency of the local garden club who ran a better campaign than the kerry camp did. No one could expect to be elected when their whole campaign was "I'd do everything that Bush did, only I'd do it better."
What Happened? Kerry had the Oval Office in his pocket. Did somebody get to him? As in, made him an offer he couldn't refuse?
I couldn't care less wheteher Bush or Kerry won the election. I do hate to have my predictions turn out to be wrong, but that's a whole other story. I'm a Canadian, and proud of it. I don't really know whioch one of the two would have been worse for Canada, but I suspect that it would be Bush. Like most of the poeple in the world I'm not afraid of Bush. Maybe, if I was an Iranian, or a Syrian or a Palestinian I would be terrified. But the fact is that the United States took over Canada decades ago. Nearly all of Canada's industry is American owned. What isn't American owned is American controlled. I don't believe that even Bush is crazy enough to wage war against his 51st State, so I am not afraid. Well, maybe I should be afraid. After all, Lincoln waged war against several of his (former) States. I guess that there are no guarantees.
I hope and pray that the American fiasco in the Middle East doesn't last as long as the fiasco in VietNam. But I'm not holding my breath.
