The Cnadian election campaign has only about four days to go. This has been one of the longest election campaigns in canadian history. I think that it has been a week or two too long. The politicians have all said everything so many times that I could make their speeches for them if I wanted to. I don't. I am beginning to feel really sorry for my American cousins who have to put up with almost continuous election campaigning year in and year out. No wonder most of them never bother to vote. I really do have numerous American cousins. Most of them are really nice people and a credit to their homeland. It saddens me to see the terrible way that their government has been destroying so many of the things that made the United States such a great country. I really think that my cousins have more to fear from their own government than they have to fear from any outside force.
Of course I'm no big fan of any government. Some are worse than others but all of them are too gig, too much in love with power just for the sake of having power, too much under the control of big money which may even be offshore money, and always to untrustworthy. I believe that the best government is the least government. It was the intention of the founding fathers of both the United States and Canada that the Federal Government should have limited and narrowly defined powers. Over the years, both in the United States and Canada, the Federal governments have gradually turned the respective Constitutions upside down and in so doing they have seriously infringed on the citizens rights and powers. But that's a whole other story. Today I want to comment on the Canadian election.
With only a few days to go until the polls open on January 23 it appears certain that the Liberal government of Prime-Minister Paul Martin is in a state of terminal meltdown. The Conservative Party is steadily gaining support in every province and region. It is no longer a question of whether Mr. Harper's Conservatives will form the next government, but only a question of how big their victory will be. The ruling Liberals have not only shot themselves in the foot at every opportunity, they have shot themselves in the head. They have been dead for months and their campaign for re-election has really been just an embarrasing stagger to the graveyard.
There will be several personal casualties in this Liberal sky dive without a parachute; not all the casualties will be politicians. Buzz hargrove, the head of the Canadian Auto Workers union publicly crawled into the slumber sack with the Liberals early in thge campaign when it looked like the Liberals were the sure winners. I nave no doubt that Mr. Martin promised Buzz a Senate seat in exchange for his support. Poor Buzz! Not only will he not get a Senate seat but when the CAW rank and file get finished with him he won't have a union job either.
So, next Monday the Canadian ship of state will take a turn to the right. Just how sharp a turn will depend on the size of the Conservative victory, but it will still be a firm turn to the right. This will certainly be a good thing for Canada. The Last 12 years of liberal government have been an odious mixture of political corruption and far-left social engineering that has turned my beloved country into one of the most degenerate pieces of real estate in the world. I'll detail that statement in another posting.
Canadians: It's time to STAND UP FOR DECENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY in government; it's time to stand up for people who work hard and play by the rules; it's time to stand up for families; IT'S TIME TO STAND UP FOR THE REAL CANADIAN DREAM; it's time to vote for Mr. harper and the new Conservative Party.
